ILI cases at UHS lower for third straight week

University Health Services (UHS) evaluated 58 students with influenza-like illness (ILI) in week 5 of the semester (Sept. 27–Oct. 3), compared with 94 students the previous week and 168 students the week before that. ILI encounters represented 5.1 percent of all visits to the primary care clinic.

No hospitalizations of students with ILI have been reported to UHS.

UHS opened its walk-in clinics for free seasonal flu shots on Sept 21. As of Oct. 2, 3,272 students had received a seasonal flu vaccination. For more information, click here.

The seasonal flu shot does not protect against 2009 H1N1 influenza virus. When the H1N1 flu vaccine becomes available at UHS, students will receive a message about the dates and locations of the free clinics.

UHS services are available to all enrolled UW–Madison graduate and undergraduate students. For an appointment or urgent medical advice, call (608) 265-5600.
